ground control/tokico blue install, problems
ok the fronts where ok, no problems. well I get to the back and start on the drivers side. first of I break the bolt that goes through the trailing arm/lower control arm. I snapped the head right off. so I take off the control arm from the rear, take the old spring/shock out. put the new ones in( ground controls and tokico blues), and put it back together. I have the coilovers almost completly slammed and the shock is almost fully compressed and I can fit three fingers between the top of the tire and the fender. I didn't take the bumpstop off the shocks, and I have 14" wheels with stock tires. I've only done the one side so far, I'll do the other tomm.. now, how can I get the broken bolt out? the nut is welded onto the other side. I was going to cut the nut off and put a new nut/bolt in. Second, I know these shocks probably aren't the best to use for semi-extreme lowering( i want the top of the tire right at the fender if possible), but I found that out after I bought them. should I take the bump stops off the rears? should I get a diiferent set of shocks for the back? How quickly am I going to blow the rear shocks out driving them like that? thanks
did you cut your bumpstops in half? also since one side is not lowered yet. your car is not all the way down so just wait to see what happens when you do the other side. i think some one had this problem before did the same thing as you.
the only bumpstops I have are the ones that cam on the shock, and I didn't cut them. should I? I am going to order the cups that go on top of the struts/shocks, from ground control. they should give me alittle more suspension travel.
