OMFG I just ******* realized I used 15w-50 Mobil 1 synthetic oil instead of 5w-30.

Is this gonna **** my engine? I was went out to buy my stuff then I found a bottle from the last oil change and it was a "red cap" instead of the blue cap. OMG i am GAY

I would just go ahead and try to get it changed asap. Like... Tomorrow. Better safe than sorry right? The thicker oil will not lubricate as well in this colder weather (then again, I forget where you are, but anyways). I'd just change your oil and filter... everything should be fine.

 

eh you know what i meant.. just an expression i suppose..

also your oil filter wasnt manufactured to handel that oil thickness. so, sooner or later, the filter will slowly fall apart. or somthing like that

 

Probably won't be good if your starting your car in cold weather. I don't really know if it will affect your oil filter or not.

 

You guys act like he just dumped vegetable oil in the crankcase. It's not the end of the world if you use 15w-50. Just change to the viscosity of your liking and swap oil filters too.

 

^ I was thinking the same thing. You're lucky your motor didn't spontaneously explode the moment the heavier oil touched it.

 

Yeah, that could wreck the whole car, been known to kill people too!!

Seriously though... I was expecting to hear something like "I used 2 stroke oil!", but oh my he went from 5-30 to 15-30, oh deal lord! Hehe, I've switched weight like 100 times, especially in the 93 GS-R which has bad oil rings, take a deep breath and repeat after me "it's oooookkkkk"

 

You mean I wasnt supposed to put vegetable oil in my radiator?! uh ops.

 

I thought it was bleech in the radiator, cuz it made it run cooler? I hear Herbal Essence shampoo works wonders in the wiper fluid!!

 

$25!! Thats alot... What kind of oil? I get mine changed for $10 with OEM filter with 10w30 Chevron Oil.

wow! haha...15W50 is perfectly fine. Leave it in there, don't go drain it out and waste your money like that.
