Default CRVtec

Hey I wanted to know if a B18 Type-R head would bolt up to a B20 block and if this would create any problems. People are telling me they have a habit of breaking down.

Yes, they do bolt up (after you buy the appropriate LSVTEC/CRVTEC kit or have a machine shop match them), you just have to run the oil line for the VTEC head and such. I believe Golden Eagle has a kit to eliminate the need to visit a machine shop when doing this conversion.

As for breaking sown, if people were to keep LSVTECs and CRVTECs at the same rev-limit the blocks were made for, then there would be no problem, but since "Frankenstein" motors are usually revved to 8,000 RPM+, the components in the block will be stressed. Some people have very reliable Frankensteins, having no reliability issues. Others aren't so lucky.

Of course, if you have the money to dump into the internals the block can be made MUCH better for the abuse it will get.

I have a friend who has the CRVtec with B16a head, crower retainers and springs, and it is incredible. However, make sure you get the block beveled, we have oil leaking problems, and we just replaced the headgasket thinking that would fix it. we are getting the block beveled next week. do it before you put it in the car.
