how do u check the CEL for ob2 swaps?
You need an OBD2 ECU in order to use an OBD2 scantool, otherwise you can check them the usual way.
If your unsure of the 'usual' way....the search will help you.

well, I've never used the OBD2 scanner tool myself, but one way to check an engine check light is by the diagnostic plug located under the passenger side area of the dash board. It may be stuffed way up in the dash, but with the aide of a light, you should be able to see a green rubber block that contains 2 plugs in it. Pull this block down from its hiding place under the dash. The smaller plug is the one you want to use. With this smaller plug exposed, turn your car on or drive your car around to allow the check engine light to come on & leave the car running when you get the check light! Then take a paperclip and make it into a "U" shape and place either end into the small diagnostic plug. This will trigger your check engine light to start blinking.
Watch the check light and take note of the blinks:
a short blink = incriment of 1
a long blink = incriment of 10
This will help diagnose problems that your ecu see's.
