Ok guys, the b16 is great, but I want more. What would you all do if you had about 5k to play with? I have to have it cali legal, clean, and running right. I dont think any other engine could beat it, but I would appreciate any input.
Lets say I went with the full swap, tranny too. I would have better highway revs, lsd, more power/torque, and a better chance to pass cali ref(over my obd0 b16).
About the ref thing, what obd should I run, I want 1, but will that pass visual? What computer should I run, its the jdm p73 the right one?
97-98 type r, or 98-00 r, which is better for me?
Anyone with these issues please inform me.
-hood clearence, will it work with minor hood trimming? what do I need, zc hood?
-ground clearence on the header? should I raise up my car?
-dizzy wiring looks easy, is it?
-4 wire o2
-I will likely have to run the sir cluster, right
This is a lot to take in, but I hope you all can help. Ryan

If you're gonna keep it stock, definetly go with the 98,00,or01 motor. the 97 only has 194hp. I have a pretty built C5 in my crx, and it is not too friendly driving in rush hour traffic. I wish i could go back to stock cams. I did a OBD 1 conversion, it made the wiring alot easier. Good luck with it

What make it less power? Cams? Header?
ps, is the 5th gear on the c5 a 4.4? , when the jdm J1 is a 4.8, right?
What Im askin, how much lower are the highway revs?
I think im starting to like this idea, lol. Ryan

yes i belive you can buy just the tranni mount and the converison kit as long as you have the billet kit already. its not that hasport sits the motor high they just position it where it sits in the jdm civic and crx's, and also the gsr and type r motors are alittle taller than the b16a and if you didnt nkow those mounts are meant for the b16a swap but can be used for any other b series. pretty soon hasoprt will be coming out with a new kit for the gsr and type r motors into our ef's
Why not do what i did for a B18C5 swap. I used to have my complete 1st gen B16A swap, but wanting more torque, I sourced out a used B18C5 block, they are out if you look around. I got my self some used internals (crank, rods, pistons, oil pan), got some Edelbrock cams and valvespring pkg, obd1 wire conversion, and finally locate a good tranny. (JDM YS1 w/lsd is choice). Thats it! Enjoy!

I am finding out that I need to be the same obd as the engine, obd2. So if I had a b18c5 block, it needs to be that obd. Also, if its a b16 head, the year is on it, and you cant have head swaps in cali, am I right? I not positive about this stuff, so someone please help me out. Ryan
