Movement in shifter
I got to drive my car for the first time this weekend after 3mths in the shop.
When i step on the gas the shifter moves back about 1/2 to 1 inch
It runs great and i don't notice any other problems, just that
I was wondering if anyone has heard of this and would know if it's bad and how to fix it if it is bad
thanx!

absoluetely normal
if you were to check anything...it would be a motor mount going bad
when you step on the gas...the engine rocks back...pushing the linkage.

ok, thanx much!!!
also, i was wondering if there is an easy way to check if it's a short shifter??
one of my friend's said it was but he's kinda dumb
it looks stock to me, but it's the first manuel that new i've driven
i'm still used to my 94 civic, this is a 96

not sure about the throw, i don't really have much to compare it too
i'm gonna try and find another civic in that year range and check it out
