short shifter? or not?
I've read online that if you get a short shifter, it's good for better shifting, but it's also bad, because when you shift, you don't allow the synchros to change in the transmission?

Re: short shifter? or not? (bradester)
I will never ever go back to stock shifter. I've had a generic short throw in my car for almost 50K miles now and it is absolutely wonderful. Now that I have a 7.5 lb flywheel it's almost necessary because the revs drop quicker between shifts now.
I drove my friend's Civic the other day w/ stock shifter and the throws seemed to be a mile long, and there was soooo much freeplay in each gear. Stock gets a big from me.

I think that's a myth about messing up your syncros. It all depends on if the driver can't shift . I love my short shifter. I haven't had one problem. If you can drive you wont have a problem, if you can;t you will. Also why do syncros go out on trannys with no short shifter?..........It's all in the driver.

Good Point.
I still got the stock one, to lazy to put in the short shifter I have.

You wont never mess it up if you can drive. As long as your not trying to put it in gear while the clutch isn't engaged

Re: (631 Teggy)
I've thought about this many time too and I finally drove a civic si with a short shifter in it. I personally like stock better, stock shifting feels more natural as with shifting with a short shifter is basically just using your wrist. Some people that I've talked so say they love it and some say they went back to stock after like a week.

That will barely get you any shorter throw (maybe like 10-15%) and you can't go back to stock. I did it on my old car, and I don't recommend it.

After I bought my car I got a SS as soon as I could because I hated it stock. But all G3 Integra shifters are the same, except ITR, but I think the ITR might be the same, too, as far as geometry above and below the pivot point.

I have a DC Sports one and I love mine compared to stock but the only downfall is that the throws are alot more stiff compared to stock which seems like your shifting air.

Re: short shifter? or not? (PatrickGSR94)
I totally agree with PatrickGSR94. I've been driving with short shifters for years and can't go back now. My last s/c baby also had a lightened flywheel with a 3.9 diff. Man, did that baby rock! Although I now have a short shifter on this car, I'll get a lightened flywheel for it when I next get a new clutch. That won't be for a while tho. I'm getting a new supercharger installed, with ceramic coated extractors and computer upgraded before anything else.
Go the short shifter if you can

Re: (ls_teg)
ive had my short shifter in for about 5 months, i like it. only thing is when i first got on it hard i shifted too fast and didnt release clutch all the way and grinded third pretty hard. just be careful at first and get used to it before ripping through gears.

Re: (J337_UNIT)
I love my short shifter. I've had it for years. It is a myth about synchros going bad. It's all on the user. Shorter throws means you have to adjust your shifting timing. Either get C's, DC, skunk, or nuespeed. The skunk ones are a bit taller than the rest.
