Default vss troubles still..

ok i posted this before. Im throwin a code 17 vss. i cleaned the connector. still threw the code. replaced vss. still throwin the code. replaced cluster, still throwin the code. checked all wiring with voltmeter everything is cool. broke connector in rage at this bullshit. The only thing left i have to replace is the ecu, but im fairly confident that the ecu is fine. Are there any trouble shooting methods for the ecu other than swappin out a good one. I have no access to a known good ecu and im really ballin on a budget. car is 98 ex with 94 b18c1 swap. recently did integra dash swap, everything worked perfect and then all of a sudden this **** started rollin.

It seems, unless i am mistaken, that the ecu will throw a code 17 when it detects, in part, a constant signal rather than a pulsating signal from the VSS. With this said, i think you have wiring issues or the wrong VSS...

Usually, VSS problems will be intermittent before complete failure. So i doubt that it just failed.

Did you reset your ecu and take it for a test drive to see if you set code 17 again?

Do you have an aftermarket CD deck? Sometimes, those wires are running to close to the VSS signal wire and cause interference.

Have you tested the operation of the VSS? Support the front end of your vehicle. THen tap into the signal and ground wire and have someone turn the wheels. You should see the voltage going from 0 Volts, to 5 volts to 0 volts to 5 volts and so on... If not, you got an open wire somewhere i think...

yup i have an aftermarket cd player. When the problems first came about i tested the vss and it wasnt pulsing at all. so i replaced it. When i tested the new one it didnt pulse either. i definitely have the right vss, i checked all the ones i have layin around the garage and this is exactly the same as the old one i had on there. i tried one from a d series that worked for sure and ended up with the same results.

If it is not pulsing, check if you have power to it. If not, there is your problem... Something is wrong along the signal circuit.

there is a fuse for the VSS. In my 99 Ek its in the second row . It is a 7.5 amp one. FYI maybe its that.

yup, and i checked the fuse already. im about to just say **** it and have someone look at it. i have no clue whats going on with the stupid thing. does anyone know if the speedometer is connected to the ecu in anyway? like does the ecu get a reading from the speedo or directly from the vss? i know the line runs right the fire wall but i never did a full trace on it just checked for continuity. im still missin vtec
