block being decked cause cam timing to be off?
well after finding out that my timing was severly fubared yesterday i talked with my tuner and he asked if my block was ever decked i said yes but i didnt know how much. i asked wy and he said that sometimes depending on how muc was taken ioff that could dause the CAM timing to be thrown off.
i found out today that .006 was taken off my block, woudl this be enough to throw my cam timing off?
i am slightly confused about timing. how could my motor even run with timing being off, my friends motor never even started when it was off only a tooth but my motor is running halfway decent, enough tothe point where i didnt even notice until i got on the dyno and got out the timing light.

well if thats the case then my timing belt might be off a tooth or so.. i havent had time to check it yet but i will soon. i mean the motor runs fine i cant even tell timing is off only the timing light could as well as the dyno it was weird.
It's not only the block being decked but also the head being milled. You must add those two numbers together.
On our beater test block, the cams are 4 degrees off when assembled. Just use your adjustable cam gears.
