There's a writeup on how to sound deaden your doors. Try that stuff. It's by Civic_Rice I think.

EDIT: Here it is. I suggest this

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=798297

Also, a loud exhaust is never going to be able to be drowned out. Simple as that.

Get a new muffler if you're dead set on stripping the car.

Didn't bother to follow the link in my reply eh?

Taken direct from civic_rice's thread...less than 1/2 of his post down.

There are plenty of options available.
I chose to use "BlueSkins" (cost cutting)
Others choose to use roofing tar material (cost cutting)
FatMat can be had for on Ebay for around $100USD
then there's BrownBread, DynaMat, etc.. (expensive name-brand)</TD></TR></TABLE>

He even tells you how to apply it all.

All of that stuff is pretty much the same. Only real difference is pricing IMHO.

One thing about dynomat/fatmat/etc is that it helps eliminate road noise, but won't do to much for muffling your exhaust. The best way to muffle your exhaust is with a muffler However, if your muffler has to be loud for whatever reason and you want the inside of your car to be quiet, then you'll need to use an insulating material like fiberous insulation or spray insulation (like Great Stuff). Thats what I noticed helps anyway when I was driving around openheader.

put bolts back in holes such as for holding your seats down, etc and go get a paint can of that truck bed liner stuff and start laying it on.

it'll give you a nice thick rubberized layer of sound deadening the same as dynomat in a can will and it's a lot cheaper. Put it on the floor, inside the door panels and door skin, etc.

also think about replacing all your weatherstripping with new stripping and taking out the dash and sound deadening the firewall...

To get really geeky...

I have a blaupunkt system waiting to go into my car. It comes with a sound canceling mic. It records and cancels out any outside noise. It won't completely get rid of exhaust noise but it will cancel it and road noise to some degree. (curious what it will do when I try to talk to someone)

I also put some sound deadening material inside the rear fenders. That seemed to help alot. I keep 2 blankets in the trunk. They come in handy and also help to muffle noise a bit.
