Default taking off my door panel

Call me an idiot or whatever you want, but I just got my eg and the moron who owned it before had the handles in the door painted yellow.... I want to take them out and paint them back to black. I don't want to crack anything and I just got the car so I don't how to exactly take the handles out. I did it on my old crx before, is it close to the same way. Let me know. Thanks!

are you talking about the indside or outside door handles? if you are talking about the inside doorhandles then there is a screw behind the handle that you unscrew, then you just pop off the handle... it should slide out very easy. you might need a flat head screwdriver to wedge it out.

Inside..... that's all I wanted to know.... i thought that might have been all that's to it, but didn't want to do it, than try and pull it out and risk cracking something. Thanks for the help!!!! Cheers!!!

Would you recommend any certain type of paint for repainting the handles????

I'd suggest just stripping the handles back to the bare plastic.

Plasti-koat (spelling?) works great on plastic material. it might not hurt to primer it either since the door handle is yellow. Flat black primer and paint is what i would use.
*edit- or just read the above post.

I don't know how well those handles would hold up to the aircraft stripper stuff, but you might want to check into it. It's at all of the Autozone type stores. Like 3 bucks a can.

just use a dilluted paint thinner, or just plain paint thinner and wash it off now and then while using it. im not sure if it will fade the original plastic color or not, which i why i suggest washing it off now and then

good luck.

Thanks for the help guys.... i'll try those things... I just want to get that stupid yellow paint off, but I'd rather not paint so I don't get that glossy look to the door handles.... I don't really care if it fades a bit... anything is better than yellow!

brake fluid removes paint really bad.. lol. My engine bay was a victim of that. If paint thinner doesnt work, brake fluid will just a little bit on a rag should do the trick, only thing is its kind of oily.
