I have around 5k-6k to put into the motor itself w/o turbo... me and my dad are building it, he knows a lot about the engines and whatnot, im just in the learning phase. Just trying to know what I should be looking for, and where are reliable sites to get the stuff??

plannin on puttin the engine into a 88 CRX.

I been searchin as well and tryin to learn on my own, thought this would maybe be a bit more helpful.

Thanx guys

The Type-R is a great engine, but unless you have a great hookup on the motor they're pricey (to start out with). So here's the advice portion of my reply (see below).

First off, buy a cheap B16a (SIRI/SIRII) or B18c (GSR) and get it sleeved (GE/RS Machine and Benson) are the way to go.

While the motor is out being sleeved, send the head to get ported and built right (valves/springs/retainers) (Portflow and Headgames are top notch). Ask HEAD on (H-T) for advice, all he does is heads and knows his ****.

Depending on your HP/TQ desires, pistons and rods could be in the mix as well. Pauter/Saenz or Eagle are all quality and worth a look.

Motor wise: Replace all gaskets bearings and such and you'll be good (OEM is good).

Hope that helps some
