Default Anyone ever get their head "Magnafluxxed"?

My father is an engine builder for race cars...mostly domestics. I bought a complete PnP LS head not too long ago, and he said I should go get it magnafluxxed to check for cracks, or warps, etc.

Many people are telling me that they have never had that done, or heard of anyone getting that done to a honda head.

Do you think I should get it checked out...visually its very clean, and I don't see any cracks, warping, Do you think I need to get this done? He's kind of trying to make me do it. haha...let know me know your opinions.

I would just to make sure there is no cracks. Magna Flux will reveal any tiny cracks that are hard to see. It doesn't take but 10minutes to do. I was working on a small block chevy and we took the heads off and they looked fairly well off to do, but we magna fluxxed them and found a couple of cracks that could have cause some serious problems down the road but usual nothing that would have gone imeadiatly, but like I said it takes only a couple of minutes to do.

you can do a FPI (Fuorecant penetrant inspection) but that will only reveal cracks that has reached the surface.

worth the insurance to have it checked by some method.
I lost a V8, block and all, to a "perfect" head (with a perfectly invisible crack)
X-ray anyone?

Check it with a straight edge to make sure it's not warped.
