boost, lighten flywheel
Is it a good idea to have a lighten flywheel with boost. I see how it will get to boost quicker but when let off the gas i also see how it will fall out of boost. can some of you tell me some more pro's and con's. thanks.
A lot of turbo users prefer not to use a <13lb flywheel just because as you mentioned, the rev's drop you out of boost when shifting.
Its a personal preference type thing, some say stay heavier, and others love their turbo setups with a light flywheel.
Personally, I just dropped 3-4lbs and put a resurfaced ITR flywheel in my B16. Seems to work fine but Ive never driven a car with an aftermarket lightened flywheel.

I would think it would depend on your motor setup. If you can rev high and revs won't drop that low during high rpm shifting, I would go with lightened flywheel.
i just installed a Comptech 8.5lb flywheel on my turbo'd LS/eg hatch this past weekend and let me tell you it makes a world of difference!! also the revvs don't drop as fast as everyone says they do. i was so worried that once i put my flywheel on that i would stall and wouldn't be able to shift fast enough before the revvs dropped. but none of that was even true. yes the revvs do drop a bit faster, but not as fast as people make it seem. turbo spools up a lot faster and there's no noticable lag at all now(drove my buddy's turbo'd stock ls and he had almost same setup...lag up till 3.5k).
i have searched and read alot on this because I am getting one within this week. most like to stay around 12.5 lbs. I think I will do that same and get a streetlite flywheel instead of the prolite.

I got an 8.5lb flywheel. I personally don't like it for daily driving. Unless you always shift fast, sometimes the revs will drop and when you shift, you kinda bog cause your rpms aren't where they should be.
I would stay like someone on here said on the 13lb + side.
