Default Auto Tranny Delayed Shifting...

Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear in the slush box on my 91 EXR is a little delayed and not as smooth. Otherwise the tranny works fine. Could this be tranny fluid or tranny heading south?

Thanks.

fluid could be a cause if your not at a good level... or if you have too much it can cause a problem also... check the dip stick. should be in between the |XXXX| and you can always pick up those lucas products and give it a shot...

Thanks for the response. Tranny fluid is way above the marks [XXXX]. Will drain some out and try again.

Are there Bentley manuals for Accords?

What exactly are these Lucas products? What am I looking for when I go to the auto store?

Thanks.

do a tranny flush on it. drain it and refill, then drive about 10 miles. do this 3 times and that may make some difference. atleast that is what honda mkes us do before we replace the tranny

Good eye opener.... the lucas article.

Draining and flushing sound more like reality to me. I hope draining and flushing does not bug things up. Slushboxes are notorious for failure after draining and flushing....

Well actually you are not draining the entire transmission when you do it. You are only draining about a third, if that, of the fluid in the tranny so you are replacing the old with the new slowly while the fluid is being circulated so i would not worry about it failing. I change the tranny sump every time i change my motor oil and it has helped mine.
