gearing is a big consideration/ deciding point
i went with 195-55-15 cuz i live 300 miles from school and visit home often. i prefer the taller gearing compared to the other possible 15inch tire choices

Width/Aspect Ratio/Wheel Diameter
Tire Diameter:
205/50/15 = 23.1
195/55/15 = 23.4
195/50/15 = 22.7
**195/50/15**
Advantage:
Smaller tires will result in higher final drive(number wise). For example, 4.40 into 4.60. The higher the number, the closer the gear is.
Disadvatge: Your speed gauge will be off, increase in final drive equals less gas mileage, traction is better with wider tires.
**205/50/15**
Pretty much opposite. Wider tire, more traction. Wider gear ratio, or stock like.

umm the only differene between the two sizes is the width of the tires which has absolutely nothing to do with a greater diameter or gearing. basically you would want a wider tire for things like auto-x and better traction, where as the 195 would be prefered on a car that is dropped alot because of potential rubbing issues.

Actually, since the aspect ratio is a percentage of tire width, sidewall height *is* affected by the tire width. A 225/50 is going to have a much taller sidewall than a 195/50 and will contribute to a tire with a larger diameter, which will ultimately affect gearing.
A 225/50-15 for example will give you a 23.86" ovrall diameter, numerically decreasing gearing (making it longer).
Check out this link for more info on how to read tire markings.

between a 195 and 205 you will not find enough of a difference at least through my experience for it to really matter nor take into acount the 1mm difference in sidewall height is what I was gettin at
