Default 91 teg Overheats!!! Help

Hi guys, this is my first post,

My engine overheats, and i'm blowing white smoke, also losing oil about 2L every 600km, also losing coolant. Other problem i noticed today is the RPMs, it idle at 2.5 sometimes 3k rpms, even when i drive, in neutral rpms goes up to 3000.

I'm thinking is the head gasket, also the heater stoped working. Now it just blows cold air.

if its the H/G should I even bother changing that ? HOw much is a H/G ?

thanx

alin

yeah definately check the radiator as well as the rad. houses somtimes they look fine but the inside gets worn down and they get cracks that u cant really see unless u look really hard...this happens if the hoses dont get changed

This would be a good indicator the car has had over heating problems in the past. No heat is a sign of low coolant. White smoke is a sign your burning coolant. That means bad head or head gasket.

Is there pressure in the upper radiator hose IMMEDIATELY following startup? If so, it is almost certain that you have a BHG (blown head gasket).

What does your oil look like? If it is looking like chocolate milkshake - BHG.

Take off your radiator cap in the morning. Is there a layer of oil on top of the coolant? BHG.

White smoke means you are burning coolant - likely BHG.

Just because a HG was installed 8kkm ago doesn't mean that they didn't mess up on the install.

i agree sound like bhg mostly, if ur car was heating up alot u may have warped the head....something as dumb as a new thermo and switch could have probably prevente it. how long ago did u buy it? if recently the owner may have beat the **** out of it noticed the head awas warped fixed the head gasket and sold it to u i hope im wrong but seen it happen before .

if u take the head off to change the gasket make sure u get the head checked for warpage

good luck, hope im wrong
