Default B16 EG cluster.

My friend just bought a 92 Civic Si with B16 engine and the stock cluster is off on the RPMs.

Which cluster should we buy to get accurate readings?

you should get a AutoMeter 5" Sport-Comp Tach... thats what I use, since I dont even have a tach on my cluster...

He actually has one of those tach's from the previous Civic he owned.

I was thinking that there might be a cluster that will work fine with the swapped engine.

I guess he wanted to keep the clean look, without the monster tack in the middle

Wouldn't a JDM SIR cluster work?

And how exactly do you know his cluster is off? Are you measuring it against a digital tach, or another caliberated tach?

Idles at 1500 RPM and goes all the way to 9RPM when shifting with a stock B16A.

Then again while crusing 80 his tach is at 4000 RPM when I think it should be at 4400 unless he has different gear ratios.

Still gotta figure that out.

It's a B16A with LSD tranny (S4C on the cast) and the JDM P30 ECU.

also, if u just use the auto meter tach that he had before, then he could save that extra money for a sluter and get something for the motor

I think the rev limiter is still at 8200 but since the tach is 500RPM too high it looks like we shift at 9K that's the whole point of that post.

just go buy the sir cluster, passwordjdm has them for 170. its a nice cluster because the tach is for the motor, so the redline and everything is for the B16. plus it lights up amber

That's exectly what I told him to do, just wanted to make sure it will work fine with the B16 motor, thanks for your help.

Yepp, it will work fine. Thats what me and a friend are running. Both have b16's. Plus the cluster plugs right in, no extra wiring needed. I think the only things that dont work is the srs light doesnt come on, but there are right ups on making it so you can have it turn on.
