when my fast idle valve was bad it just caused a pretty high idle.

hrmm depends on the engine, if your using the z6 like in ur sig, then maybe, whats urs look like?.. does it have a connector on it, or just coolent hoses?.. the electric ones won't do anything if there bad.. but the coolent ones or "manuel" ones could cause ur idle to jump up and down while it cold, then be ok when it warm.. usually doesn't mean the FICV is bad, just needs to be opened up and adjusted

try these, 1 at a time.

1. Check vac lines.
2. Disconnect IACV.
3. Clear/replace FITV
