Help! I can barely Shift
For some reason it is very hard to shift into any gears especially 3rd. My clutch doesn’t feel loose or anything, but for some reason I cant always get into gear with out any effort. What could possibly be wrong?
Have you done any upgrades to the transmission lately? Racing, tracking the car, mis-shifted, over-revved? Any more details that you can tell us?
Could it be a clutch problem? I am not sure when the clutch was replaced, but I know that I haven’t replaced it. How do you know if your clutch is going bad?
I bought the car used( it is a 1995), but i bought it used with 35,000 miles on. So I put the majority of the miles on it. What sucks is that it isnt under warranty, so when things go worng I have to dig pretty far into my pocket to pay for them. i think I am going to take it into the dealer next week and have them take a look at it.
might be as simple as low transmission fluid... i run amsoil series 2000 ow-30 synthetic motor oil in my tranny.... it helps it shift smoother and it will last longer. when i had my transmission built, this is what my mechanic used and he said not to use anything else in it if i wanted it to last years and years to come. Just my $0.02 though, I'd definatly check the fluid though, and if you can get the Amsoil, it would be a lot cheaper than trying to rebuild or what have you

Ok I check the fluid level and it is ok. But today the probelm got worse.
I put the clutch all the way in and when I tried shifting into fourth while moving it grinded the gear. But the clutch pedal doesnt feel like it loose. It feels like it always has.

It sounds like the same problem i had with my old car (saturn) it turns out that my slave cylinder for the clutch died. I have the shop replace it and things improved dramatically, although they said that i would need to replace the entire clutch in a year. I ended up selling the car before then, but you may want to have the shop look at the master and slave cylinder on the clutch. If not, well if you have to replace it at lease go with a slightly nicer clutch.... It will probably cost you less than 100 bucks more than one from the dealer, or maybe even less.
We've had a lot of topics devoted to these clutch problems lately. Look somewhere back a few pages here in the integra forum. I think there's also some topics in members corner about it. good luck.
