Default help i have an automatic

i have a 92 prelude automatic and im tossing up the idea should i change it to a 5spd or keep it an automatic i heard there could be a shift kit for the automatic that will make it work better. ive also heard sometimes autos are better on the drag strip takes out the lag time when shifting. does anyone know if they make a shift kit for automatic Honda's or should i just change it to a 5spd

I think you need to answer three question first; Do you want a fast car?? Do you want a car that is fun to drive. Lastly, do you think modding your auto tranny car will make you happy?

I like my car because shifting gears is a lot of fun. It involves you more in the driving experience. Also, make realistic goals for your Prelude. If you don't you WILL be disappointed with the end result. Also, realize that a Prelude does not have a good combination to be a drag car.

Other than that, I really can't offer anymore advice.

Good luck.

youll gain morehorsepower out of a 5spd conversion. That auto tranny is friggin beefy first of all and with a 5spd you can shift it higher with closer gear ratios.

I will guarantee you, that any 16 year old with downs syndrome can shift a manual, faster then any Honda Automatic.....
I really dont know where, peeps come up with this stuff.. A auto prelude shifting faster then a manual, LMFAO..........

Hahaha... good stuff. In simple man terms... an automatic shifts at a lower RPM than a manuel. If you cant figure out why thats not good/why manuel is "better"... you should be riding a bike... one with no gears.

I didnt even try to answer your question... sorry. IMO, i would definatly go with a manuel swap

especially auto on h22 they should never have made automatic trannys for h22, makes the h22 hella slower.

Default autotrannies suck!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you are mechanically incline then do the swap, if not sell that lude and buy a h22 5speed lude.

i'm in your situation too and i say to ask yourself (before u spend your money):
Do you think its wiser to get a manual swap?
-or-
To just get motor and tranny swap? I think it depends on how long u plan on keeping the car or what u plan on doing to it. You can't have a old tire motor and going to boost it for what!!?? (its just more problems)
I'm on my way to buying me a whole front clip to do my motor and tranny swap because my motor has like 181k miles on it (thats alot) I made that decision because i thought long-term about it and i also went through too much to sell and get a new one
