Well honda changed to the smaller filter(to increase oil pressure) a few months ago, plus I think thier new ones are made by Fram. I used to run nothing but Oem filters, but now I run Bosch filters(made by filtech) who used to make the Oem honda ones.

You could use the s2k filter, (only one that didn't change but dealers want a grip for those. Mine wante $10.99

do anarchived search on oil filter, and you should find plenty of threads made when honda changed thier filters.

Not anymore. USDM oil filters used to be USA made Filtechs. While Japanese filters wer made by Toyo Roki. Now, all of the USDM filters are made by Fram. I'm not a big fan of Fram because of their cardboard endcaps and spotty construction.

Some good filters are made by Champion Labs (K&N, Mobil 1,Bosch, AC Delco and Supertech). Also, Wix (Napa Gold) makes some good filters.

Fram

I once saw a website about the difference between the old OEM Honda and the JDM OEM Honda filters.

The JDM ones were the shizz! They had more oil holes and more filter media and just plain better. Seems the JDM people keep everything good for themselves. We need to all pool our money and move to JDM land.

except the JDM wants to be USDM... then we'd have to convert back to USDM cars and be the super mack pimp daddies..

The new Honda oil filter (smaller one) are made by Honeywell. These new filters are even worse than the old Fram filter.

Honeywell makes good air filter, but not oil filter

Honeywell owns Fram, so you're still getting a Fram filter.

I believe the Mobil 1 filter is identical to the STP filter in every way. The only difference is the bling factor you get for using a Mobil 1 filter.

-Kendall, who is all about the Mobil 1 bling.

I think the only difference between the STP and the Mobil1 besides price is that the Mobil1 filter element has some kind of coating.

I remember reading an article some guy did a while back where he cut a bunch of oil filters for hondas open and showed the insides of them. If I remember correctly the Fram, Purolator, and US oem Honda were three of the worst constructed. They had poorly made and installed anti-drainback valves. They also had low quality filter elements in them. I wish I still knew where to find the link.

mobile one has the highest cotton and polyester mix, and the best bypass valve. and it's the thickest.. if it was cheaper, like $3 i'm sure it would be number one.

this, to me, is made for good flow with reduced filtering so if your engine is always dirty or you do prolonged oil changes then i would shy away form this. but if you change your oil frequently and don't cre abotu the high price tag then this seems like the best. i think i'm gonna try the stp next time
