We pull out the fill plug and make sure the oil level is up to the bottom of the hole.

are you filling with the top "checker screw" out? if not air pressure may be keeping the oil from going in... and you are pouring in the tiny little tube up top right? the place whee a dipstick could be, but there is just a rubber cap?
anyway, you just fill until it comes out the top "checker/drain hole"

isnt there something to fill it up with inside the engine bay. like something that has a rubber nipple on it. i am not sure but i think thats for the tranny fluid. like a dipstick but not really. becasue i ran into the same problem with a 94 accord

OK pls don't flame me if I ask a dumb question. Are you sure you drained the ATF and not the engine oil? Would explain why the tranny case is still full.

Main way to tell (besides knowing which drain plug to use), is that the crankcase oil is yellow to brown in color, but ATF is reddish.
