Default reset ECU?

i have a quick question. the motor have to be warm prior to resetting the ECU? for instance, would i have to drive around first, shut off car, disconnect negative battery terminal for 10, reconnect, start car up and let it idle for 10 min? oh yeah, after i let it idle for 10 min, can i just drive off or would i need to turn off the car, and restart it?

you dont have to drive the car prior to resetting the ECU,..and after i disconnected the negative terminal for about 15 mins,..i plug her back up,..start her up WITHOUT touching the gas at all and let her sit at idle for another 10 minutes or so,..then i shut her off and then turn her back on and go

NO NO NO!!!

just pull the fuse to the ecu, there is no need to undo the (-) terminal

ok so here are the options for resetting the ECU.
1) remove (-) terminal from battery - this resets all electrical things in car (must reset all radio stations/ clock etc etc
2) remove the fuse for ECU - resets ECU and leaves all other electrical memories intact (Not sure if it erases the codes)
3) pull all plugs for ECU - Resets the ECU and leaves all other electrical memories intact (Not sure if it erases the codes)

I ususally do #3 sinvce i'm down there jumping the other harness anyway to see the code...

the fastest and easiest way to reset the ecu is the negative battery terminal. if you feel like waiting 10 minutes for your fuse to reset, then go ahead.
