Default legal intakes for itr motors?

I've been searching and have not found what i was looking for. I need to buy a legal intake for my motor swap as i am going to get it refed in the next month or so and am in the process of making it legal. Anyways one of the things i need to do is buy a legal intake and wanted to get a short ram but i cant seem to find one that is legal for the motor. all i find is cai.

does anyone know of a short ram intake that is carb legal?
what are the companies that make any type of legal intakes other than injen and aem?

thanks for the help

im pretty sure only aem has an intake thats carb

maybe just leave your stock airbox with K&N filter and then after you get it carb'd put whatever intake you want on

I would say Comptech if you got the extra cash but in all honesty if you cannot afford that then stay stock. Reason being because you definitely cannot afford the Mugen and there was a test not to long ago that showed better dyno results with a stock airbox then the aem cai. I know thats lingering around somewhere just do a search if you dont believe me.

The J's intake does not look stock and if you change the filter, it still is illegal.

Go Icebox!!!

Its not even that expensive if you use the stock arm, its CARB legal and nobody will even notice that it is different from stock unless they know imports. It also seems to be the cold air system that has the least chance of taking in water, and it gives beautiful power gains. I really dont see how you could go wrong with that piece considering your needs with carb, etc.

***I guess the reason that I say all of this is because it doesn't seem to make sense, with all of the recent hype about losing power with the AEM short ram, to spend the money on a short ram for uncertain performance... Plus, if you are going to spend well over a hundred bucks for a short ram arm, then why not just spend the same and not risk power loss on the short ram side, and guarantee gains by adding the icebox system to your stock system while remaining carb legal and stock looking!!! Just my two cents...

comptech customer service isn't bad at all. I asked them for a carb sticker for the intake and icebox and i got it a few days later

best intake on the market, close behind mugen, IMO

I agree with that too. I had problems with a strut bar and the painted logo on it after a few months of use. Called and explained, sent the old one in and a brand new replacement was shipped to me days later for free. Came with extra stickers too!!! (if anyone wants these stickers, pm me)

Iceman.

Their setup is a 2 piece CAI so it can be switched back and forth from Cold Air to Short Ram. It is CARB legal and you can even get it in black so it doesn't look so "bling"
