Would like information on the 2003 Accord
I have a 2003 Accord (7th gen). I have searched and found very little information on this model. This is my wifes car and it will most likely never be modified. I have several questions.
1. The MAINTENANCE REQUIRED light came on a while back, would blink upon every startup. A new airfilter solved this problem. Does anybody know what exactly would cause this light to light up? I know it can be a lot of things, but if anybody has a list I would greatly appreciate it. I love to do my own maintenance on my vehicles.
2. I have a 01 Dodge Ram 2500. It has a feature I learned about. You can pull any trouble codes from the computer without a code reader/scanner. All you do is turn the key in the ignition between on and off three times, with the third time ending in on. Any codes will be displayed on the digital odometer. My Accord has a digital odometer in it. Does it have a feature similar to my Ram? Will the paperclip trick work with it? Or will I need to buy a code reader?
3. The Accord was recalled a while back to replace a Intake Air Breather Pipe. This was fixed. Are there any other recalls that I may not be aware of.
Thanks for listening.

First thing I would do as far as recalls is go onto http://www.honda.com and register your vehicle ( you will need your vin number) and then type in your info and honda will mail you updates for either recallsor scheduled maintenance
along with coupons. As far as the maintenance required I light I believe you hold the button and start in up while you hold the button for 10 seconds it should go away....but I am not too sure on the 7th gens. Congrats on a awesome vehicle

When you say button, I assume you mean the trip odometer reset button right? This has been a good car. I enjoy driving it. It has its own quirks that I am still getting used to. I only have one complaint about this car.
1. Why is the oil filter in the back corner of the block? I have one heck of a time reaching in to change it. My wifes old 01 Civic (traded it in for the Accord) was slightly better. Right above the HOT exhaust pipe. Oh well. Thanks VRDrvr.

But AutoZone will plug in their reader for free. Just get them to tell you the actual code #, not just the guy's description of what's wrong.

The breather pipe on the '03, & a shroud around the ignition lock cylinder on the '98. We got both of them in the mail, while OwnerLink said there were no recalls... Honda has to use vehicle registrations for that - not everyone's on line.
