What's the function of the Power steering Pressure switch??
anyone know? I took out the power steering pump, lines, and converted the rack. In doing so I noticed a Pressure switch that sends it's signal to the ECU. After taking it out I get no CEL, or any other dash light. I'm just wondering what the hell that pressure switch was for?
Anyone know?

Good stuff man. How hard is it to drive now without the PS? Could your car be daily driven in your opinion? How much weight do you think you took off with all the PS stuff taken out? Im thinking about doing this but some Qs i jsut asked are some of my fears.
It bumps the idle up to compensate for power steering load. Since you have no load, the switch can be eliminated.....3gdude
It also will regulate the pressure in the pump. You can experiance this if you autocross your car. When you go from lock to lock quickly you will lose powersteering. It can be a real pain when you are having a good run and them you lose it on one corner and clip a cone.
I ran my old 4th gen lude with out power steering...It made it fine as a daily driver. Just be sure not to try and whip your car into a parking spot or something really quick. It can be a bit of a pain, but IMO when you are going around curves, you really get a better feel for the road. And if you are running 100+ mph, the power steering can be a bit touchy!

That has nothing to do with the PSP switch. It has to do with the 5th gen PS assist being RPM dependent. There is a mechanical spring that regulates pressure from the pump. A quick switchback at high(er) rpm will cause a breif loss of PS assist.

Detecting an increase in load (from the Power steeting) at ideal so that the car will not stall. That's got to be it! Thanks!!
I have not driven the car yet, hehe. It's been up on jack stands for months as I do much needed work to it. I hope to have it out some time next month. It's not a daily driver BTW.

My powersteering pump works on my 2006 Honda civic but the steering is hard! Could the switch have to do with this? My power steering pump was tested on another civic and it worked!
