Default Question about toda

If i decide to go with toda cams (head package) and i wanted to boost after (buy turbo later on), are those two compatiable? or will i have to use other cams/ put back my stock ones?? Thanks.

No, with toda it will raise your compression ratio a bit. If you plan on going with boost you will have to lower your compression ratio to make it safe. The type S has a c.r. of 11.1.1 which would be kind of high for turbo. So if you got toda then planned to go boost you would have to change it all out and have your ecu reflashed once again.

How do cams increase compression?? He didnt mention anything about pistons, just the head package. Either way, the Toda cams do not have the right profiles and specs to properly work with boost. If boost is in your future, dont bother with the Toda cams, and just use that money towards a kit.

Cams raising compression?

I heard boosting on the stock head/block is safe with turbo, just as long as you dont push over 6-7psi...but then again its always better to be safe than sorry

6-7 psi....Greddy and Cybernation Turbo kit users are pushing double those levels on stock block, with stock head. It's all about tuning.

14psi on a stock block/head????.....I guess if you're that ignorant....by all means go ahead and boost that much...But for every driving, who would want to boost that much especially on a motor not built for turbo.....

Not trying to start anything, so please don't take it like that. I'm just saying that many people are running 10, 12, 14 psi on stock k20a2's. Go to CRSX and look. The ask Greddy Thread as well as the Ask Cybernation thread. It's not ignorance, it's tuning as well as if you're willing to take the chance.

IcIc....Thats cool....Yes tuning is important.....And then again i guess its all on the preference of the owner of the car.....

but when i go turbo im surely going to make it for reliability since i live in LA..and the traffic here sucks..I wouldnt want to put my car/turbo through hours of traffic each day...

LA traffic sucks!

it is all about tuning. But it's all about how long you want you motor to last also.

Well I guess it all depends on what your goals are for your car. TODA has a great setup, without a doubt. Putting in new valve springs, new retainers (seperate), new cams, as well as plugging in the reflashed ecu is perfect for many people. No dyno tuning needed to extract maximun power, which saves a lot of money in the long run. Once you do their kit though, as well as the bolt ons, where do you go from there? To me, you have a limited upgrade path once you have done these modifications.

Cybernation is a great starting point as well, and have been a good track record so far (knock on wood). With the Cybernation setup though, you have the bling factor of having a turbocharged RSX, as well as being able to upgrade. The stage 1 kit from Cybernation has been shown to produce 260+ fwhp as well as still be reliable which many people want. Going with the Cybernation stage 1 allows a person to upgrade though, through the process of rebuilding the engine, using a bigger turbocharger, and completely converting the fuel system to utilize a return line.

All in all, it's your call, based on what kind of funds you have available, and what your goals are as I stated earlier.
