sick of the cel. is there a real fix.
ok thats it i need a fix. i searched and tried it all. so i need a real answer. i have a code 12 (egr valve). im using a jdm p13 chipped by prospeed, a vafc, and a obd2-obd1 skunk2 harness. i have read all the info on the board and am having the same problems others are. i have a 6500 rev limit. and a code 12. the vafc is hocked right and i have the correct harness. so is there a fix or is there something wrong with the ecu chip. i talked to the guys at prospeed thay said to send it back and thay would check it out but before i do that i need to check for every thing to make sure. thanks, later

Haha, whatever you say bud....
And yeah; try cleaning out the EGR first.

so is there any real info or just people like this? i said that i swapped it with a different one and the code is still there. i guess my question had something to do with my sig and i did not even know it.

Ok... lets try and help you out;
You replaced EGR valve and assume that you cleaned egr port also, correct?
Have you also tried;
changing EGR solenoid (not valve)
running carb cleaner through EGR lines
top head cylinder head cleaner
and last but not least, made sure you hooked up the vaccum lines correctly

yep, cleaned the port. checked the lines. it all started after i did the motor swap, and it is the only cel i have. and i never had it before with the stock motor. i think prospeed screwed up or something when thay chipped my ecu. it should be spoon spec. 9k red line but its like in limp mode. i know if i hooked my vafc up wrong it would go limp mode, but it is right.

In short chipped ECU's are complete crap unless tuned soley for your car with a emulator. P28's are fine they just don't control the butterflies and you loose a little bit of low end.
if i was me, i would check the wires, get the pin outs for where the egr wires are supposed to go to the ecu, then unplug the egr valve and have a budy help you, and run some continuity tests.
all the cleaning and pissing and moaing won't do **** if your wires are messed up somewhere along the lines. and wires getting messed up happens alot, especialy with swaps.

make sure your getting the right amount of oil pressure. Also I wouldnt be surprised if your ecu chip company disabled certain check engine codes. If youve cleaned the egr and swapped ecu's make sure all vacuum lines are good and ports on IM are plugged off. Did it every run right after you did the swap?

yea it runs cool other than the code and the rev limit. but it has been there at 6500 since i have been using that ecu. i need to swap it with another one but i dont have one or know any one that does that i can use. and yesterday i checked all hoses and wires to the ecu and vafc for the forth time and it is all the way it should be. i think i will just send the ecu back to be fixed or just use a stock one and do all the tuning with the vafc.

i had this code on for awhile (several times) and i could still run my car up past 6500. i just reset my ecu whenever it came up. over 1000 miles later still nothing
