Can i use brake cleaner to clean out the IACV?
Most dealers recomend using low levels of compressed air or water... no chemicals... but I've never used anything but carb cleaner or brake cleaner nor has ANY other mechanic I know of and non of them get f'd up...
I'm not even sure if honda recomends against using chemicals... I'll check my helms tonight...
Either way... use the carb/choke cleaner... it will work fine and you have nothing to worry about either running in the engine... IF...
A. You don't hose it down...
B. You leave it apart for adequet time for all of the spray to evaporate off...
C. You spray the IACV while it's off the intake.
It's not often but more than possible to wet down the plugs with carb cleaner... preventing the car from starting for a while....
It happened to one of the kids working on his car after work at my buddies station...

well FYI guys.. you dont use CARB cleaner on a Throttle body car.. because TB have a coating on them that the harsher CARB cleaner will remove.. (yes I know I will get flamed but Oh well )
best one to use is parts cleaner or brake cleaner.. or if you want to spend money get Throttle body cleaner.
