brake cleaner vs. carb cleaner
For jobs such as PCV, IACV, FITV, and EGR ports, I was told to use carb cleaner to clean the crap out of them. Would it be safe to use Brake cleaner instead?

sort of. The main property behind brake cleaner is how fast it evaporates. carb cleaner is much stronger, and doesnt evaporate as fast.
The best is intake cleaner like previously stated, it disolves carbon alot better, just make sure to keep it off any electrical sensors.
