Default Saturday morning disaster....

first, thanks for reading.

I need your help.

This morning on the way to work I am merging onto an expressway as normal. Since it's a 65mph express way I merge quickly redlining 2nd and taking her semi-high 3rd gear till I hit about 75 and then cruise in 5th.

OK...This time was a little different, when I hit 2nd gear vtec it was really sluggish, didn't feel like it was pullin much at all. so I take it easy on her till I get to work pop the hood and oil everywhere. It is around where the head mates with the block. First thing I said was "headgasket" but then I notice that for some really odd reason the dipstick is not completely in, and the handle is all oily. Now this was not like that prior to today, I know that for a fact for I had my hood popped last night. Oil was dripping from my front grill, it was a painful sight. Oil all on my header and underside of the hood...it is a messy situation.

Ok help me rule out headgasket I am freakin getting a motor swap in a month or two and I don't really want to spend money on a headgasket when I need one for my future motor, not to mention paying for other things in my life.

Past couple days I have been seeing some smoke coming from my exhaust but I think that is due to the cold weather here. I do not see any drop in coolant level.

What are your inputs on this, anyone have a similar situation?
Thanks.

Well you said that the dipstick was out a little right? That might have caused the mess. Did you take the valve cover off resently? Cause i would think thats broken before the headgasket because that gets oil EVERYWHERE! Either way i dont think its your headgasket.

This is what i would do.

Clean up the area as much as you can. Have the dip stick all the way in. And start the car. have it running at 2k for a while then check to see for leaks. If you see none then go back and redline a couple times. Then check again. Find out where its coming from.

Check your oil, if it's milky then it will likely be a head gasket. If not then start looking around the head for a leak, check cam seal, oil plugs, vtec solenoid, valve cover (unlikely, but still check) etc. Then come back and let us know what you found.
