Default Need HELP! What is going on?? Need all turbo experts and motor specialist on this one.

I recently had finally got a feel for the greddy profec b2 and it was working great. 2nd gear felt like it had a slight misfire but the rest of the gears went through perfectly. I never exceeded 7.5psi on my b18b (stock) with b16 tranny.

i took it for a spin with a friend and ran 3rd gear up to redline which is stock at about 6900rpm i believe on the p75. so i pull up to a stop and smoke is coming out from under the hood. so i'm thinking to myself maybe its from the dumptube or something, anything but a major problem. so when i open the hood there is oil, yes oil coming out of my breather filter on the valve cover. i'm thinking yeah, not a hot look. anyway so when i took a good look there was oil every where even on the bottom of my hood. all seemed to be coming from the breather so i though okay maybe my cams were moving at speeds that were not normal due to it being boosted. so i turn it off and start it back up and still smoking not overheating though.
the next day i decide to take a look at my pcv valve to see if it was clogged and it was so i changed it and still smoking. i'm talking about immediate smoke as soon as i turn the car on after sitting for about 2 days. there is smoke coming out of the exhaust that looks white (coolant) and it also looks like there's actual coolant coming out of the exhaust. also when i take the dipstick out there's smoke coming out of the dipstick spot. my other question is that the smoke coming from the breather smells more like fuel than oil. also the oil level looks the same and the coolant level is the same as well. but yet the smoke is white out of the exhaust. i did push the car hard and wasn't really looking at the temp gauge the car doesn't over heat either. the car is harder to start and has a rough idle but the idle seems to be normal but sound shot. when i take off the car stumbles and my boost/vac gauge bounces fluctuates. what could this **** be i'm hoping just the head gasket even though i just changed it about 3 weeks ago.

please help HT. ask me any q's that will help out.

yea thats blowby. i had the same problem, 3 of 4 of my piston ringlands were broken. time for a rebuild.

bump... anybody know y the oil out of the breather filter? is it possible that it could just be the head gasket?

Check the compression, i had a similar problem. Ran the car, smoke come out of engine bay. but car drive completely fine after, smoke come out of dipstick hole. compressiong test come out 195 195 195 115. So my #4 ring/ringland is shot. but i think it worse in your case since you shooting out smoke form exhuast, my car doesnt and it drive fine but from the compression test i know it fucked up... Dont hope it just a head gasket, always expect for the worst so anything cant get even worser lol. you probably need new piston might as well build it while your at it.

My car was dynoed tuned with hondata, and after like a month the ring/ringland on #4 take a ****. what great luck i have, i dont even beat on the car.

i didn't have any serious fuel management since my funds are shot for the time being. i was running an inline fuel pump with a 12:1 fmu. the only reason i think its the headgasket is because i wasn't boosting the motor that long and i think the car overheated because it tends to do so when i'm pushing it in boost for a few. i have to leave the car out of boost for a bit til the fan does its job. when i drove the car that night i completely forgot to pay attention to the temperature. Also i noticed that its hard to start.

question: if the head gasket were still good but the rings/ring lands were shot would the symptoms of a bad head gasket still be visible?

also wouldn't blown rings cause the oil to burn? mine isn't burning its just blowing out of the breather filter. What does the smoke out of the dipstick mean.

hey man sorry to say but the rings are broken. i broke mine after only 2 months of boosting o a h22. you are having the same problems that i was having. so if you are strap for funds then it looks like it is time to sell the turbo or come up with some cash. b/c you are going to need some money to buy the pistons and rods and ten a new block, which is prob. scorn from the pistons.

Yep those are shot! Not a headgasket for sure. Even #2 and #3 don't look healthy. That sucks man. You have to get new ringlands.

Lol, I wish you could just buy new ringlands. You need new PISTONS is what he was trying to say.

You cheaped out on fuel managment, and saved a few $$ right? Wrong, now think how much the rebuild is going to cost. Either you buy stock pistons (not recommended) or you buy some beefy pistons and rods/bearings and new gaskets/pumps.

you can laugh about it if you want but sometimes it ain't about saving a few dollars and being cheap... its a matter of having the money for it and that i didn't have so i stuck with what i did have and if i was cheap why would i boost knowing its an expensive mod to keep up with? thanks for all the replies. Guess i'll be selling the kit soon. look out for pix of that and if anyone is interested in buying. i had it on my car for about 700 miles. not daily driven.

but if the head gasket blew wouldn't it cause the cylinder's compression to go down? just asking.

If the head blew that hard you would throw a zero for compression.

It's funny how you say that if you had the money you would have not done FMU. Well that's what you get then. If you had waited and saved more this headache might not have happened. You say it's not about being cheap, well that kind of is the definition of it . Anyway now that you pretty much have to buy internals you'll have a very strong setup only and only with GOOD FUEL MANAGMENT and Good tunning.

keep the turbo kit. save up and get your internals. and i really dont find it funny when someone blows there motor. and yes he should have atleast got a afc. not everybody comes from wealthy parents.

first of all you make no sense when talking about the definition of cheap. waiting to save up doesn't mean that the person is cheap. maybe to you it does but not me. obviously i'm short on cash if i'm leaning towards selling my turbo kit to buy another motor and go NA. money doesn't grow on trees for me its hard to be a full time student and work enough to make money to buy parts that cost money. thanks for the support honda9369.

Wealthy parents my ***. how about working at pizza hut for $6/hr? I still managed to get my setup right. Either way, it's a lesson learned for you. You knew you skimped on something crucial, and yet you still drove the **** out if it. THats what you get for not having patience (intelligence?)

geeze lay off him. hey man, that stuff happens. Now you know to get hondata or something. You can't go back and undo what happened. IF you really don't have the money to fix it. I would suggust just useing a credit card for the time being. Make sure it has a low apr and build the motor with aftermaket parts. Nothing crazy but solid and get hondata.

intelligence? u gotta be kidding me... if ur so smart then y u working at pizza hut and talking **** on something called "honda-tech" this is the place i turn to for help and support not **** talking. it is a lesson learned but hey no need to bash me because of it. and i'm sure many people will admit to have a lack of patience when it comes to their cars. silverb18 if my cards weren't so topped out i would use them... haha

I'm no expert by any means, but it seems that there's quite a few people who have blow-by issues with stock motors at some point. But I don't think I've heard of anyone breaking connecting rods or rod bolts.

brixity, perhaps you could invest in some new pistons, hone your cylinder bores, and invest in "better" engine management (as has been suggested). Turbo guys, is this a feasible alternative?
