Default hmmm....remove tranny side axle without draining fluid?

I recently installed my new axle on the tranny side, and I didnt drain the fluid. I didnt even realize it until afterward that you are *supposed to* drain the fluid beforehand. Well, I didnt drain the fluid, and nothing leaked out so thats got me wondering if my fluid is low. Tranny has felt kinda iffy the past few days but was fine before the last change. Last time I filled it I remember having problems with the funnel and fill hole so Im thinking Im gonna give the VSS hole a try. Normally, would fluid leak out if you dont drain the fluid?
