Default are honda motors good for turbo upgrades?

yea. i just bought a 2000 integra gsr and i was wondering that if the b18c1 is a good motor to put a turbo kit stock or to fix up the internals first. I heard that honda isnt a great platform for turbos but i want to put one in.

Check out the Forced Induction forum.

Do a compression test to make sure that your motor is good. If compression is good, slap on a nice kit and get it tuned.

It seems apparent that you know next to nothing when it comes to modifying an engine.

My suggestion to you, READ READ READ. You have a lot to learn about motors and how they work.

If only it was that easy

See what makes hp all motor is hihg compression, big cams bolt ons ect...

You don't use big cams with turbo, you don't run high compression with turbo, you don't run a header, or intake with turbo. The list goes on and on, its a different ballgame, but maybe that clears that up for you.

From your Vague question I would say Read the forum and learn the ropes before you spend any $$$$.

yeah!! like b16, b18a1,b1,c1,c5, b20. You're in the right track homie. As long your using low compression pistons you'll be fine like stock pistons and search online for some more.

The bottom end on GSR motors aren't the bet to run high boost on. Build the bottom end first before running above the 6-7psi range.

As stated above, a motor setup for all motor would not be a good candidate for a turbo.

There is much more to consider than just using low compression pistons. You have to consider stuff like the strength of the stock rods and the stock sleeves amongst other things.

I would feel perfectly comfortable running a stock GSR engine with 10 or 11 psi as long as the turbo components (manifold, intercooler, wastegate, etc.) were good and the tuning was done properly. In a turbo setup it really comes down to how well it's tuned. An improperly tuned setup at 4 psi will blow up long before a properly tuned setup at 12 psi.

There are a lot of things to consider when thinking about a project like this. If I were you, I would devote a lot of time and effort to researching turbo's, and what is necessary to run one.

A turbo kit, fuel management, and good tuning.

Exactly, with good management and good tuning, you should be able to run 8 psi all day long without any issues whatsoever. Also make sure that the components in the turbo kit are good. Don't cheap out with an ebay manifold or anything.
