Default RSX/Civic hybrid

is anyone currently swapping a RSX engine into a new civic - will it bolt right in? what about suspension (from a DC5 R) just curious?

The new Si is sporting an RSX engine. Shouldn't be too difficult; like swaping 'teg into the civic.

the new si does not have the rsx engine.. they both have 2.0L engines, yes, but they are not the same. it's like saying the d16 is the same as the b16

also, rsx's engine rotates opposite direction from the civic now. dunno wut acura had in mind

I think so. The new civic engine rotates the other way also doesn't it?

Don't listen to everything you hear on the list. It's probably an easy swap. Both engines rotate the same way (2001+Civic and RSX that is).

only the rsx and new si's engines rotate the same way. the other 01 civics engines rotate the "normal" honda way

Though I would have to say the new Si is pretty ugly.

I'm sure someone will find someway to do it. I'm sure we will be hearing about it in the not to distant future.

I wonder what the chances are of an S2000 motor bolting up to an RSX-S tranny...

That is what I'm saying. I thought about the rsx engine swap, but after reading the specs and checking out my buddy RSX, you would have a hell of a time, and most likely spend way too much money. So what do you do??? You patiently wait for something, like I am doing... In due time however I make long tedious plans for the 2001 civic @ 400hp+ ( I know I'm dreaming, but like McDonald's ... It could happen)

You guys are thinking TOO hard!!

It doesn't matter which way the engine rotates. It's the way the engine is mounted in the engine bay. The 2001 Civics and the RSXs share the same mount points. Now since the new Si will have the RSX engine, that will be the mounts to use in the base Civics. Again, RSX motor, 02 Si mounts and brackets, 2001+ Civic chassis.

Oh my dear god yes that would be so sweet. I really don't like the look of the new hatch. I would much rather get a coupe and put a Type S engine in there and blow the doors off that new Si.

Ya I was thinking of just getting a Civic Coupe DX, junking the SOHC engine, and putting the -S engine in it's place. Would look nice with a body kit.
