my question is, is my car running lean or rich? because engine dies once in a while during idle cause the idle is irradic at times.

 

I would guess rich- but it's just a guess

 

could be either. Do to the idle problem it sounds like its running rich, but if it just cuts off(much like you turn it off) then its probably lean, while if it feels like its getting too much gas and flooding then its rich.

 

Can you smell gas ? That would certainly indicate rich.

But, I think most aftermarket chips cause motors to run rich as well....does that sound right ?

i did check my plugs, and it indicated that i was running lean. But it was from bosh platniums. people say Bosh tends to look like your running lean....
