by the time you jimmy up something that probably wont work, you should have just bought a log style mani. its not easy to weld cast.

lovefab- $300
spoolinperformance ~$230 i think

check around and do it right the first time.

Yeah, I normally follow that rule "do it right the first time".

I have a used turbo, HF manifold, and the adaptor plate already. I bought them all through different sources. I bought the turbo knowing it didn't have the actuator for the internal wastegate so I'm now looking at options. I either get the actuator or I get a log with an external. The log alone costs more than I want to spend so I am down figureing out what else I can do. From your response it would seem that I will end up getting an actuator.

Weld a flange on to the top of the hf manifold where the factory o2 sensor is now.. Put an external wastegate on there..

not big enough, not easy to weld cast, as stated before. overal, not worth the investment.

Yes. That's the diaphram actuator I was talking about. The metal rod sticking out of it actuates a lever on the wastegate flap and makes it open when there is enough boost.

I know its not easy to weld cast and may not be worth it.. The are at the top is big enough to put a flange on if you remove the factory o2 sensor there..

2. even if it was how are you going to get it on there, JBweld? haha

Seems we disagree on this one.. I wouldnt jbweld it but im pretty sure it can be welded by other mean.. And I think that is it big enough, There is a pretty good area there and I have put a tial 35mm wastegate flange on top of the hf manifold that I have and there is room for it..

A decent welder can definitely weld cast. Especially if it's not a "weight bearing". IMO, there is room to put it on a HF manifold. And also (IMO) it would be a complete waste of perfectly good welding rod. Just slap a oem diaphragm on the internal WG and be done with it.

Small rant: People debate the merits of internal vs. external WG's quite a bit around here. Cracks me up since 99% of us will probably never see even 12 psi anyway.

lol

i was kidding about the jbweld.

yes a GOOD welder can weld cast. But going through the extent of finding someone who will/can and preping the manifold for the welds..... you might as well just spend $200-250.

your right we do dissagree on this, so i will leave it at this.

IMO there is no reason to attemp this.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jz &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i have an idea if you wanna keep the hf manifold. that ***** pretty thick huh? how about you drill a hole about 40-42 mm in diameter (somewhere where you would want to put the wg) then tap it. then go get some threaded steel pipe (35 mm ID and 1/2''- 1'' in length) weld a wg flange on the other end of that and then screw the contraption into your threaded hole on the hf mani. and i guess it wouldnt hurt to put some jb weld on those threads either just to keep it in place. its worth a shot. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Thats actually a great idea.. I might even try this on my hf manifold..
