Try tightening the alternator belt. You'll need a 12mm wrench and some sort of long prying lever (a screwdriver, even better, a prybar). Loosen the adjusting nut on the upper alternator bracket, stick the prybar in between the alternator and the engine and give it hell. Then, tighten the nut while you've got pressure on it. You should be good to go. Make sure to really torque that nut so it doesn't slip...
I had a sound like this and it has yet to come back after I adjusted the belt...

I see that you have a GS. If it's not the belts, check the ABS next. My ABS was making a weird noise like that and I ended up dis-engaging it and the noise went away.

From your description, it sounds like a belt may be squeaking?
If that's the case, go buy some belt dressing ($2.00-4.00) and
spray the belts down (Alternator, A/C, power steering) and see
if it goes away.

dont use the belt dressing, it will just wear the belts, trust me, i changed my alternator belt 3 times in 2 weeks because of it.
just tighten the alternator belt and that should fix it. or why not just change it for added security. the belt is only $12 and takes like 10-15 min to change

Also, check your dizzy ... Mine took a **** on me the other day, and was squeaking REAL bad, as the bearing inside gave out ...
Fixed it for free though, as i had me little brother pull the dizzy off my spare (SUPER LOW MILES) engine ... I'm now looking into going intoa distributorless ignition setup ...

if you tried your alternator belt
and dressing on all your belts
check your ac tension pulley and your power steering
pump.. see if its moving straight...

What side of the car is the sound coming from?
It's probably the ABS pump running if you have a GS and the noise is on the right side. They start sounding like this if they run too often. The ABS pumps on the DA are junk and not made for continuous use.
The pump isn't the problem though, it's either a broken accumulator or leaking modulator solenoids that are keeping the pressure from holding and so the pump kicks on all the time. The solenoids are probably an easy fix, just use your abs. Take it out the next time it's raining and stomp the brakes a few times to get it to engage. If you are lucky and it is leaking solenoids, any dirt or gunk that is keeping them from sealing will be flushed out. I'd change the ABS brake fluid too, odds are it's never been changed.
If none of this helps then it's probably the accumulator. They just go out eventually and you have to replace it, or deal with the dolphin sound getting worse until it eventually goes away and gets replaced by your ABS light!

the sound mysteriously dissapeared but ya it was coming from the passenger (right) side. i did notice the abs light go on for a hot sec a while ago. and i thought i needed new breaks until today when i looked at the pads. they looked fine. im guessing my abs system sux. i kinda want to remove it anyways
There are 3 15amp fuses in the middle of the enngine fuse box. They are right next to the big fuses. I'm guessing your fusebox label is long gone? You know your abs light is going to come on when you do this right?
