Default High pitch squealing

Recently i've been hearing a squealing sound in my car....at first i thought brake bearings, it definately wasn't as it still made sounds when i was motionless. then i thought something with the tranny because it seemed to only squeal when i was in gear. After idling at a friends to go get him and come back it was even worse, so now all i can think of is pulley's or belt......any ideas on what it may be or how to fix it??

I'd check your belts first.

Sounds like a belt problem to me, try feeling the belts, if there's a lot of play or if you can move the belt up or down more than a half of an inch, there's your problem.

My alternator belt seems to slip after a few weeks...the location that the alternator is in makes it nearly impossible to use the right tool to get leverage, so I just use a 12mm wrench, and tighten it as much as I can. And every three weeks or so, it'll slip back and get loose, so I take two minutes and tighten it up again.

Hope this helps

You can't really tighten a pulley. You have to tighten the belt by loosening the nut that holds the alternator to the alternator mounting bracket, take a ball joint separator, or a screw driver to pry the alternator towards the firewall until the belt is tight, then tighten the nut in the bracket.

For the power steering, you have to loosen the two bolts that hold the pump to the mounting bracket, and turn that adjuster nut to take up slack on the belt, then tighten up the bolts on the bracket.

The A/C belt tightens by tightening that 10mm adjuster bolt on the idler pulley to take up slack on the belt. There are two nuts jammed together that prevent that bolt from turning. Just break the nuts loose, and tighten the bolt to take up slack, and put the nuts back together.

I don't know if you meant by tightening the pulleys, you did all of that I just typed, but if you didn't, give that a shot, I hope this information is handy...

I suggest you leave it alone Im mechanically inclined and I havent touched mine. Its not worth the trouble.
Let it whistle if it bugs you put your stock intake on.
Thats the price you pay to mod your ****.
Goodluck

Mine doesnt squeal in a sense of a belt or something like that. Mine squeals like its reverb from the intake, yet it comes from the drivers side of the engine bay. Goes away when i get it above 1.5k rpm or when i use anything that requires the motor to work (for some reason rolling the window up or down stops it)

ok, well i got a compression test done at honda (wanna shoot myself now) and i asked them to check everything that you guys listed here, now i'm not surei f they were just lazy or wut, but they say the whistling is ''normal exhaust noises''......i highly doubt that but ya, compression results.... all 4 cylinders at .... 125 wet
