Default Squeeky belts

One of the belts is squeeking and it's annoying me since the noise gets worse as the weather gets colder, whats the best way to fix it? Clean the pulleys? Tightness?

Want to know if i can do something before i have to take it to the shop

Which belt? P/S, A/C, or alternator? They can all be tightened, and thats the only thing a shop would do.

I have one squeaking too and I just changed all of them....I was told to try tightening them, and then buy some kind of belt conditioner that prevents squeaking...

if its the alternator, go out and take a look at it, theres two bolts on it. One is on the bottom and it has a square head on it and a nut on the other side. Theres also a bolt and nut on the top of the alternator holding in onto the bracket thats bolted to the block.
Loosen these two bolts, no need to remove them, and you will be able to rotate the alternator towards the firewall (to tighten).

Give it a shot, the bolts are a bitch to getto and I actually think you DONT need to loosen the bolt on the bottom.. I did mine when the engine was out of the car so I forgot sorry =\

Let us know how it goes.

I went under the car took off the plastic dirt shield from underneath and i pressed each belt to check the tightness, the a/c and alternator belt seem to be pretty easy to bend in, although the a/c belt makes a squeeky noise when pressed in, could that be the one more likely?

if the belts are old just replace them its not worth tightening a stretched out belt cause it could break then you're stuck. If possible remove drivers side tire and its much easier to get back to the alternator bolt only loosen one bolt and not the pivot one.I have not dealt with power steering yet so check a Haynes/Chiton manual for that.belts are cheap and easy to replace just remember to only allow a 1/2 inch deflection when snugging belts, and re-check in a couple of weeks to make sure they are still snug cause they do stretch a little.

Deflection:the amount of belt play when you push/pull on the belt,if the belt(s) still make noise snug some more!

remove your ac and power steering. That should get rid of some belt squeakage. Thats what I did anyways

Did you ever get your belts to stop squeeking? Mine is still doing it, and I've tried the belt conditioner with no luck.....someone told me that the pulleys have to be perfectly in line, but how could they not be in line? Anymore input would be appreciated.

Also, I'm pretty sure its the Power Steering belt.
