Default Miss-Firing. I need help please!

I recently just got my car back from the shop after a theft. I suspect whoever stole my car beat the crap out of my motor. After I got it back, drove it about 50 miles, the check engine light came on. The car runs poorly now.. I brought it into Acura and they said I need new injectors. I think they also said my valves are out of adjustment.

I suspect the theives over-revved the motor, either from just redlining it at a stand still or downshifting maybe from 3rd-2nd gear at too high of a speed and spiking the rpms WAY too high.

My question is, could the injectors go bad if the engine is over revved.

It used to lump at idle from 600-700 before it wen it. now it lumps around 300-500rpms and occasionally almost stalls itself, and saves itself.

Acura did a compression test for me. The results are:

Cylinder #1: 180(psi??)
#2: 170
#3: 170
#4: 175

Is the compression low? Acura said compression is "good" on the repair order.

The repair order says "...3 misfires..." I don't know if the tech meant #3 is mis-firing or 3 cylinders are mis-firing. My friend plugged in his chip for me and it said #3 is mis-firing.

Acura also said the valves were out of adjustment, and didn't say anything about bent valves or broken valves. They adjusted my valves.

Acura said I need new injectors? I poored some of the Chevron Techron injector cleaner in yesterday, it ran a little better, but could just be psychological. Im gonna try to go through the whole tank of gas today see if it actually gets better. Acura said its gonna cost $415 and thats big money.

Anyone else thinks its the injectors? My friend thinks it might be my spark plugs and/or wires, he says he smells gasoline. I saw someone dripping out of the exhaust yesterday, but didn't see it today.

I searched on compression test results on GS-Rs. They all seem to be above 200s. Atleast my compression is pretty consistent throughout all 4 cylinders, I think. I also read that the motor needs to be warmmed up for the test, I don't know if Acura did that or not. How much of a difference should I see, assuming that test was done when it was cold, should I see when the motor is warmed up.

The check engine light comes on and off, maybe like twice a day, and it stays on/off consistenly, even if I restart the car. Could it be a sensor?

Thank you guys in advance.

if they were constantly bangin the rev limiter when the thiefs had the car alot of things could have gone wrong. heres a list of things to check

1. Compression check: warm the motor up to normal temp, disconnect the spark plugs wires and remove spark plugs. pull the ECU fuse out. screw in the compression checker. get in the car and hold the gas pedal to the floor, crank the motor about 5 to 7 times each cylinder. check readings.

2. inspect the spark plug wires and spark plugs.

3. sadly enuff there is no way to really inspect your fuel injectors without a flow machine. are the making any really loud clicking noises?

4. disconnect the battery for like 30 sec to 5 mins (your own discretion) to reset the ecu. sometimes they just get bitchy.

5. the o2 sensor might be bad and not cycling would could make for some shitty idling and fuel mixtures.

6. NEVER TRUST A DEALER!!! all they probably did was hook the ecu up to a diagnostic which you can do urself with a paper clip.

7. inspect vaccum lines for crack or anthing of that nature.

thats about all i got for now..

Ill try to think of more later

the next time your check light comes on run what code your ecu is throwing. if acura said u had #3 misfiring it should throw somthing like 73 if im not mistaking. if thats the case it most likely would have been from a bad plug/wire and or bad valve ajustment which if i read your post u aready had that redone. hope this helps

I replaced my plugs last night with Bosch Platnum 2s. And then reset the ECU. It ran good for a while. I took it out for a test run. It ran fine under VTEC and I pulled over and did checks here and there. Everything was good

I go for another test run, take it up to 6-7k rpm, pulled over again, and it started skipping again! ARGGGG

My teacher suggested that if the people whole stole my car infact did over-revv my motor(like my mis-shifting) it could have knocked a groove/tooth off my timing belt because it would of raised the RPM too fast going from like 4000rpm-11000rpm or something like that, anyone else think its possible?

Also, how hard are injectors to replaces? And how expensive are they.

Thanks guys.

could have skipped and is detonating up high, i would definelty have the timing checked and things checked.

as for injectors... its actually harder to get the clips off the injectors than to remove them.

if you worried about cost I have a few laying around ill sell ya cheap..

How do I check the belts, what are the specs that they are suppose to be in. I just ordered a Haynes manual on amazon today, probably wont get it for another like 5 days, but I'll be in Taiwan from friday till the end of next week. I'd like to fix my baby up before I leave her for a week.

How much for the injectors, four of them

so far, nope. Its been 1/4 tank of gas since i did the plugs.

the light was acting funny before i did my plugs and reset my ecu anyways. It would come on and off whenever it felt like it.
