Base RSX worth it?
i think the 02 civic si has the same 160hp i-vtec but with less torque...not that it will need it because it's lighter.
but come on... the style of that civic is hideous. will make for some great rsx civic si races though

hmm. u're wrong tho.. si has less torque AND it weighs more then the rsx. i dunno, i might just get the SI cuz it's cheaper. i heard base rsx is not worth it, but you pay alot for no performance. people say either get Type S, or don't get rsx at all.
Well if the new Si weighs more and has less torque why buy it over the RSX? It can't be all that much cheaper and the RSX has a nicer looking interior, plus the longer warranty and better dealer service you get with an Acura.
BTW, I thought the new Si had the exact same motor as the base RSX. And is it really heavier? That would surprise me.

how bout getting a job and
graduating high school first?
the new Si is worse then the
current Si in every way. i'd
rather drive an insight.
the rsx is not a performance car.
acura's are about luxury and the
rsx is a luxury sport coupe. the S
is definately better in the performance
department but is not marketed
nor is it meant for the performance
entusiast.

yeah, a sports car. from honda's luxury division.
hence, luxury sport coupe. i didn't say it wasn't being marketed
toward 'sports' enthusiasts, i said performance enthusiasts.

Cars that are for the performance enthusiast aren't even marketed. I don't ever remember seeing an ITR commercials....or Corvette Z06 commercials..
The WRX and RSX have very similar TV commercials btw...probably the most performance oriented tv car ads ive seen in along time.

I have the base w/ about 2500 miles. It is a great car. If you don't have the funds for the type s, the base is a great buy. Peak torque at 4000rpm's is real nice. The car floats on the highway and you don't even have to down shift into fourth. The new SI is gross. Another bonus about the base model is that is weighs alittle bit less than the type s. Trust me it is a great car for everyday use. I know I may go out on a limb here but the base can hang w/ if not beat a GSR with the right driver. My bro's mildly modded GSR(i/h/e/itr cams/etc) and I have raced a few times and we usually come out even from a dead stop. I consider myself to be a decent driver, but I know there is better. I came from an LS so I feel this was a good upgrade for me, plus the type s was alot more in insurance costs. Hope this info helps. Good luck!
