broken timing belt. need advice on mod that can be done along with the repairing
Hi,
Recently, the timing belt was broken when I was doing ~75 on the freeway. It got a couple of bent valves ...
. While the head will need to be opened anyway, I am thinking to have some internal work done at the same time (I do not plan to go all the way to have a monster all motor setup, but I just want to add some fun to my daily driving experience). Any suggestions on what can be done? As long as it is under $1000, it should be fine.
Your suggestions are really appreciated.
By the way, it was a 95 prelude SI. Thanks

$500 - cams
$200 - valvetrain
$1-200 - light head porting
$1-200 - valve job
<$100 - mill head
<$100 - lower compression head gasket
$50 - polyethylene intake manifold gasket.
look around for the best prices for the porting and valve job. some people will do it for really inexpensive, but make sure they do good work at the same time. raised compression with the milled head and head gasket will go very well with cams, but then again all those mods compliment each other pretty well. you should be able to get most of that done for less than $1000 and have a very nice head in the end.

well...you could get a complete H22a head and go the H23 VTEC route at this point. But be aware of the risks.
Crower has also just finished H23 cams.
