Y8 Still overheating!!
I don't understand this. Here are the following things that we've already replaced:
1)Radiator
2)Thermostat
3)Radiator Cap
4)Fan Switch
Here's what beed done so far
1)Pressure test
2)Emissions test (To test for hydrocarbon and to see if the headgasket was going)
Yet, Once in a while, the car still overheats and we can't figure out why. Last night, while driving home to CT from NY, it started to overheat on the highway, so she turned the heater on and started to speed up to get more air flow into the engine bay which usually helps. But it didn't this time. So right now, the shop is going to check most if not all the related connectors as they think it might be an electrical issue. We're baffled and looking for help please. And this is for a 98 Civic EX Auto. Thanks in advance.

The timing belt I know, but if it's the waterpump, wouldn't it be instantaneous overheating?

Not nessesarily, water pumps tend to start going out if the bearings/bushings are wearing done. Hence the freeway bit used to work but doesn't anymore. The pump is getting worse, at least that is what everything is pointing to.
Typically you have the pump replaced when you have the timing belt replaced. Since the belt has to come off when you do the pump.

Thanks alot Spade. Car just got finished at the shop. They cleaned most of the related connectors and confirmed that there was corrosion, gonna see how the car does from here. If it still overheats, then it's the waterpump although my shop says that they don't think it's the waterpump as it would instantly go out and overheat the car not periodically. But in any case, when the timing belt gets done, we're gonna do the waterpump too. Thinkin about gettin the ProStreetOnline Timing belt kit, anyone heard anything bout it? Comes with everything including waterpump.
