Default cam gear??

ok here it is...i just got a cam gear and i wanna put it in so i called my mechcanic and he said it would prob be about $207 to install it...he said after he removed the valve cover i would need a new gasket...is that true? and is that price anywhere near you guys got yalls installed for? also if anyone did their own install could you tell me how to do it? thanks...BTW its for a SOHC engine...thanks yall!!

$207? for that price he better install the cam gear, check the timing, adjust the valves, change the oil and rotate the tires! jeez!.. go find someone a little more trustworthy..

I'm no mechanic but I removed my valve cover on my 98 Accord and was able to reuse the rubber gasket. All I did was gently pull it out while it was warm. Get some other opions cause like I said I'm no mechanic.

well what the price consisted was....change the cam gear check the timing and adjust it and put a new gasket on my valve cover.....$207 way too much huh?

Mehn your mechanic's crazy........Change the gasket?????? Wtf................Cam gears is easy to intall yourself, but checking the timing and adjusting it is pain in the ash........Adjusting your valves in pretty easy too, if you the tool.........

I haven't done mine yet cuz i don't really need it right now..

why don't you open the valve cover to see what your dealing with.....

Again its not that hard its jus the timing check and adjusting is what gets me.....

you do that after you put your cam gear on............

has anyone changed out thier Cam Gear on their Accord? how long does it take? and did you also do the timing yourself? or can you not even do that?
