Skunk2 cam gear install question

Skunk2 cam gear install question
I just recieved my skunk2 adj. cam gear in the mail. I went to install the gear, I had to find a new key for the gear because the stock one had a built in key. On top of that, the cam gear itself when put onto the cam rubs against the plastic timing cover? What am I supposed to do here? 
I checked the part number and the number is correct, i even counted the teeth on the gear to make sure it was the right cam gear.
