slight popping from the front end under light braking ... cant find problem
i have a 98 ek hatch.... does anyone know where this popping is coming from .. i checked the steering rack and it was ok .. has anyone else had this problem

do you have coilovers? It could be the springs creaking.
possibly that shock is blown on one side?
It could be the spring is eating away the bushing at the top of the shock tower and sometimes theres a metal to metal contact, making the noise.
Check these three things out too...its either what xerox said or what I said.

I would check the bolt that holds the controll arm to the subframe. Mine was doing the exact same thing and it ended up being that. In my situation the nut welded inside the subframe actually broke off and worked its way off of the bolt so the sound I was hearing were the threads of the bolt on the subframe.
