Ok, so I searched and found that other people have had the same problem as me, but it doesn't seem that there are any "true" solutions other than the replacement of the subframe.

The car has had a few high horsepower setups in it, including a 400+whp single cam. It developed the problem with this setup when I was on drag radials. Anyways, there is a nut that is welded on the inside of the subframe that the LCA bolts to. It seems that the bolt backed out enough that when I launched it the welds broke. It started making noise and I couldn't pin point where it was coming from until recently. I tried pulling it apart, but obviously the bolt just spins.

I drove with this problem for a few months (not knowing the extent of the problem), and it seems like the hole has ovaled out. I know people have cut a hole in the bottom of the subframe to get a wrench on it to tighten it up. I'm just worried that even if I do that, since the hole is now distorted there will be no way to keep the car aligned.

This is where the dilemma lies. Do I just "fix" it by cutting the hole, and tighten it down, or should I look into replacing the sub frame? If I can get it tight, should it eliminate the play in the control arm, or will it still have issues?

I think I'm going to attempt to just put a new subframe on it and replace all the worn bushings and everything while I'm in there. The motor is out of the car so now is a good time to take care of it if necessary.

If i do decide to yank the sub frame out, is there any easy way to do it? Does anyone have any tips, or a write up? I can't seem to figure out how the steering rack comes apart from the shaft.

just replace the whole subframe. look at the helms manual its only one u-jopint that holts the steering shaft to the rack

Any suggestions on where to find a good quality subframe? are there any aftermarket companies that make them? I figure I should look at all of the options before I jump on anything. Blah, I'll probably just wait until I find someone locally that is parting a car out.
