Default just finish my h22 swap

alright im all done with my h22 swap and im loving it! the only problem i have right now is that when i push her and bring it up into vtec and let off my idel stays at 3000rpm or 5000 rpm. im thinkin its my iacv but not sure. have any of you guys had this before. and if it is the iacv, how do i stop it from doing this? (i also dont have the iacv plugged up so that maybe an issue) thx!

about the idle surge its a common problem with h-series motors. its your fast idle valve it need to be replaced or clean thoroughly. about the idle sticking check to make sure your cable is not binding or clean your throttle body really good. ohter than that this thread is worthless without pics

Just finished a h22 swap - same problem. Check your throttle cable tension and your base idle (unplug the iacv and see where it idles at *note this will kick your engine light on). If idle is resonable (ie less than 800 rpm) than check your cold air bypass valve on the throttle body - has 2 small cooling lines going into it and a flat, round, 2 screw cover on it.
If you undo the mounting bolts you can get at the valve mechanism inside (looks like a big needle and seat valve). The seat is adjustable - so wind the seat down untill it closes of the air bleed when the engine is warm. Ours was way out (the wax chamber behind the valve was probally starting to kack). If that needed to be adjusted than you will have to reset your base idle. On our swap, we fired it up, it ran at 2500 rpm aprox for 30 secs than started hunting as it warmed up - rev, die, rev, die .... Had no vacum leaks, low coolant, or codes - just would not idle down. Than we screwed with cold valve - cured the problem - runs great hot and cold.

could be the same prob. I had an accord at work with same symptoms. I can't remember if b18 uses the same fast idle control. I'm to lazy right now to check manuals in my shop. Check your intake and see if it has the above described valve. They preset them at factory and they are not supposed to be adjusted but hey, fuckem.

What does a H22 run quarter mile in a del Sol? And how much did the whole swap cost you?
